Derrick Sims - Chairman Of The Board
Derrick is the safety manager for U.S. Flue-Cured Tobacco Growers, and a certified radiation safety officer. His responsibilities include developing new policies and procedures, OSHA training, fork-lift training, ensuring government safety regulations are followed, environmental health and safety, first response and first aid for employees, maintaining safety inspection of plant vehicles, and providing plant tours. Derrick is also the elected chairman of the Kerr-Tar Workforce Development Board.
Ernie Wood - Past Chairman Of The Board
Ernie is currently enjoying retirement and giving back to the community. He is a member of Person Mason Lodge 113, York Rite Masonic Bodies, Amran Shriners and the Roxboro Shriners Club.
Hunt Fitzgerald - Vice Chairman
Hunt graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2001 with a major in interpersonal and organizational communication skills. He has been general manager of Palace Pointe since 2006. Hunt has also been known to serve as technology advisor to Roxboro Pepsi. He is an active member of Long Memorial United Methodist Church.
Ryan Johnson - Secretary
Ryan is the owner of Electronic Solutions, Inc. He is responsible for the administration, planning, organization and control of all business functions of ESI. On a personal note, he is a weather enthusiast who interacts regularly with regional and national weather experts. Ryan also serves on the Person County Board of Elections.
Christine is the market leader for BB&T's Roxboro branch. A native of Rougemont who attended Person High, Christine has been with BB&T for over six years. She is a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts and has received the Gold Award. Christine has a bachelor of arts in international relations from Salem College, and was active for many years with the local chapter of the National League of Junior Cotillion.
Dr. Dan Phillips
Dan serves as owner and chief medical officer at MedAccess Urgent Care, which opened in Roxboro in December 2008. He completed medical school at Marshall University in 1987, and completed his residency in emergency medicine at Akron General in 1990. Dr. Phillips earned extensive experience in emergency department management prior to transitioning to urgent care medicine. He is an active member of Olive Branch Baptist Church, and has served on five medical mission trips to Haiti since 2010. He currently serves as medical director for Person County EMS and has been a member of the Chamber board of directors since 2014.
Shady has been in banking for 30-plus years and has served as senior vice president/Person County market executive for Union Bank & Trust Company for over six years. She currently serves as a board member for the Roxboro Rotary Club, Person County Partnership for Children, Piedmont Community College Foundation, and Roxboro/Person County Home Builders.
Sherry Clayton is vice-president of Huff's Insurance Inc., and a real-estate broker with Keller Williams Realty. Sherry learned early the importance of serving her hometown and giving back. Today, she is active with Roxboro Women's Club, Christian Help Center, and Chamber events including Personality Festival. She also is an active member of Antioch Baptist Church, where she sings in the choir and is a member of the Philippine Mission Team.
Bruce started out in business at the age of 24 as an electrical contractor. He then started a burglar alarm business and was featured in a national alarm magazine. He has been with Sentry Watch Security for over a decade. Bruce is a former Roxboro Jayceee and a former member of the PC Crimestoppers. He served on the Roxboro Community School board of directors for six years, and is a current member of the Person County Home Builders Association. He helps with Roxboro Development Group and is involved with the Roxboro Beautification Group. Bruce believes in volunteering. Bruce is a member of Mt. Zion UMC.
A Roxboro native, Tracy earned a business administration degree from UNC-Chapel Hill. She began her banking career with First Union Bank while in college and later managed the local Wells Fargo in Roxboro. She is currently the Roxboro market president and works as a relationship manager with the business banking division of Wells Fargo. She continues to work in the Roxboro and Durham markets. Tracy is currently serving as chair for the Piedmont Community College Foundation and has been an active member of the Roxboro Rotary Club for over seven years.
Woody Jacobs is a native of Person County, a graduate of Person High School, and has a degree in life sciences from N.C. State University. Woody began his career with Carolina Power and Light's Mayo Plant, and is currently the environmental maintenance supervisor at Duke Energy's Mayo Station. He is a board member of the GEAR UP program for Person County Board of Education, a member of the Chamber's Industrial Relations Committee, and a big supporter of the Bethel Hill community.
